Early Light Through Mist, High Wood Flasby
Gargrave Art Exhibition 2026
I am looking forward to this year’s Gargrave Art Exhibition and am pleased to have six paintings now varnished, framed, and ready for display. Three paintings will be exhibited in the main exhibition and a further three in the members’ exhibition.
As well as exhibiting my own work, I will be involved behind the scenes once again. Last year, over 300 paintings were entered, and it was a great learning opportunity to assist the team with curating and hanging the exhibition. This year I will again be helping with the exhibition setup and will also be spending time as part of the sales team.
The exhibition runs from Thursday 9th July to Sunday 12th July, opening daily from 10am to 7pm, with the exhibition closing at 4pm on Sunday.
I hope you can join us and enjoy the wonderful range of artwork on display.

Stephen Bauman Workshop – Portraiture & Composition in Graphite
Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to attend a workshop with internationally recognised artist Stephen Bauman, focusing on portraiture and composition in graphite.
The workshop was held at Workshops in Yorkshire, a venue that continues to attract artists from across the UK and around the world. As a Yorkshire artist, I feel fortunate to have access to such high-calibre artistic training on our doorstep. The combination of excellent tuition, practical demonstrations, and individual feedback created an inspiring and rewarding learning environment.

Richard Kitson Masterclass - Portraits in Oil
Richard Kitson Portrait Painting Masterclass
I also attended a Portrait Painting Masterclass with Richard Kitson at Leeds Drawing Club. The masterclass provided an excellent opportunity to study portrait painting techniques, colour relationships, paint handling, and approaches to capturing both likeness and character.
The day offered a wealth of practical advice and fresh perspectives, providing plenty of ideas to explore and develop within my own portrait painting practice.

Looking Ahead
As always, thank you for your continued support and interest in my work. I look forward to sharing more paintings, drawings, and exhibition news throughout the rest of the year.
I hope to see many of you at the Gargrave Art Exhibition in July.
